How does the AI facial recognition feature work?

The built-in AI chip learns to recognize faces you designate as family members, trusted neighbors, or regular deliveries. What happens if my internet goes down?

The VI200 doesn't stop working when Wi-Fi drops. It falls back to local mode: the indoor monitor and outdoor panel continue to communicate via wired connection exactly like a traditional intercom. All motion events and visitor snapshots are stored on the local microSD card (up to 128GB supported), and automatically sync to the cloud once connectivity resumes.

Is the video quality good enough to identify faces at night?

The VI200 captures in full 1080p HD with HDR, and the outdoor camera features starlight-level night vision — meaning it produces color video in near-total darkness where traditional infrared cameras would show only grainy black-and-white. The 165-degree ultra-wide lens covers your entire porch and walkway, so no visitor goes unseen.

How difficult is the installation?

If you can mount a doorbell, you can install the VI200. The outdoor panel is wireless-capable (2.4GHz Wi-Fi) and runs on a rechargeable battery for up to 6 months between charges, or hardwire it to your existing doorbell wiring for unlimited power. The indoor monitor plugs into any standard outlet and pairs with the outdoor unit automatically during first setup through the Tuya app.

What about privacy and data security?

All video streams use end-to-end AES-128 encryption. Your data is stored on Tuya's ISO 27001-certified cloud infrastructure with servers in your region. You control retention policies: auto-delete recordings after 7, 30, or 90 days. The physical privacy shutter on the indoor monitor blocks both camera and microphone when engaged, giving you absolute certainty that you're not being monitored.
